Hold off on confirming Kavanaugh until 2019

Actually, what Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s views are right now should be irrelevant. According to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, within months of an election “the American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court justice.” The Senate makes the final decision on a Supreme Court nominee. And 35 Senators are up for re-election. So let’s take this up again in January 2019. Janice Hough Palo Alto, Calif.

There is a very big difference between a lame-duck president choosing a Supreme Court justice and what’s happening here. There was no way Barack Obama was going to be president after his pick. This pick will still be Trump’s after November. James Evans
