Trump loses second attempt to throw out hotel lawsuit
President Donald Trump on Wednesday lost his second bid to toss out a lawsuit that contends he’s violating anti-corruption provisions of the Constitution by accepting money from foreign and state governments.
The suit, which centers on spending by government interests at the Trump International Hotel in the nation’s capital, could open the door to plaintiffs in the case gaining access to some hotel business records. U.S. District Judge Peter Messitte said the attorneys general of Washington and Maryland “convincingly argued” that the U.S. Constitution’s emoluments clauses applied in this case.
