Clintons buy adjacent Chappaqua home for $1.16M
Delighted neighbors of Democratic nominee, former president say ‘it’s a perfect house for Chelsea’
CHAPPAQUA N Y The Clintons have more than doubled the size of their Chappaqua empire at a cost of just more than $1 million.
According to land records, Hillary and Bill Clinton spent $1.16 million Aug. 11 to buy the 3,631-square-foot, ranch-style house next door to their current home at the end of the cul-de-sac on Old House Lane. The adjoining 1.51-acre property was previously owned by Charles Chepigin.
“Neighbors are 100% happy,” said Roni Jacobson, who has lived on Old House Lane since 1984. “It’s a perfect house for Chelsea. Perfect mother-daughter situation. Neighbors are delighted.”
According to the real estate listing, the home consists of three bedrooms and four baths “with an open floor plan, pecan wood floors throughout, modern chef’s kitchen with Viking, Subzero and Asko appliances (that) opens to an eating area with a fireplace and the family room, all with built-in cabinetry.” The master suite has a recently redone bathroom with two walk-in closets.
The Clintons bought their current five-bedroom, full-bath home at 15 Old House Lane for $1.7 million in 1999, according to land records. The 5,232-squarefoot home sits on 1.1 acres.
Jacobson said the Clintons have been “perfect neighbors” since they moved in in 1999.
“We think they’re wonderful neighbors,” she said, adding there haven’t been any issues since the road was closed in August to everyone except locals. “The police and the Secret Service have it in perfect control.”
