Sen. Jeff Mullis earns Historical Records Advisory Council award
Sen. Jeff Mullis, a Republican from Chickamauga, received a Georgia Historical Records Advisory Council award.
GHRAC presented this award to Mullis for his outstanding efforts in archives and records work in Georgia.
“It was an honor to receive this award,” Mullis said. “Georgia’s history is rich and diverse and we must do all we can to preserve it. Teaching our future generations the importance of our heritage is critical. By preserving our records and archives we can ensure that our history will never be forgotten.”
Chancellor Henry M. Huckaby and Georgia Historical Records Advisory Council Chair P. Toby Graham presented Mullis with the GHRAC Award for Legislative Advocacy during the 14th annual GHRAC Archives Awards ceremony at the Georgia Archives on Wednesday, Oct. 26. These awards recognize outstanding efforts in archives and records work in Georgia.
During the presentation it was noted that Mullis “has been very active in honoring Georgia’s heritage.”
During the 2015-16 sessions of the Georgia General Assembly, among other legislation, Mullis sponsored SB 417, The Georgia Film & Television Trail Act.
In 2013, he sponsored legislation commending the Georgia Civil War Commission. Mullis previously sponsored legislation to promote the study of Georgia history in our schools, and he also plays a vital role with the Georgia Music Hall of Fame.
