Lady Ramblers drop two region games

The LaFayette Lady Ramblers faced two tough opponents last week and lost both Region 6-AAAA contests.

Heritage girls 78, LaFayette 35

The opening game on Tuesday saw the No. 7-ranked Lady Generals get 22 points from Sydney Smith in the victory as they improved to 18-2 on the season.

Jada Allmon led the Lady Ramblers with 14 points on the night, 12 coming in the third quarter.

Ridgeland girls 51, LaFayette 29

Down 20-5 in the second quarter on Friday, the Lady Ramblers would make a small run, scoring seven unanswered points in the second quarter to briefly chop the Lady Panthers’ lead to 20-12.

However, the Lady Panthers would end the half on a 13-3 run to take a 33-15 lead into intermissi­on and pull away from there as Sarah Meadows scored 31 points for Ridgeland.

S.J. Oxford had a team-high eight points for LaFayette (1-18, 0-9), followed by Allmon with seven and Megan Wilson with five.

Saturday’s previously scheduled game with Gordon Central was cancelled.

LaFayette will play at Gilmer at 6 p.m. on Tuesday before hosting Southeast Whitfield at 7 p.m. on Friday.

They will conclude the regular season with a 3 p.m. road game at Pickens on Saturday. Southeast will host the 6-AAAA tournament, starting on Feb. 6.
