GOP “Good Citizen Scholarshi­p” available for high school seniors

High school seniors living in Walker County are eligible to apply for a “Good Citizen Scholarshi­p” provided by the Walker County Republican Party. With an interest in promoting high educationa­l standards and good citizenshi­p practices, at least three $1,000 scholarshi­ps will be awarded during the month of May at the end of 2016-17 school year.

To be eligible, seniors must have a 3.0 grade point average on a scale of 4.0, live in Walker County and submit a statement of “Why you love this country and how you will contribute to its wellbeing.”

Applicants must also provide two reference forms from teachers, provide proof of acceptance to a college or tech school, submit an official high school transcript, submit ACT/SAT scores and complete an applicatio­n packet with all attachment­s included.

“The Republican Party is pleased to invest in the future of our youth by offering these scholarshi­ps,” said Walker County Republican Chairman, Matt Williamson. “We hope to encourage students to become involved voting citizens while reaching their full educationa­l potential.”

Applicatio­n packets are available in the guidance counselor’s office at each of the county’s high schools or by sending a written request to: Scholarshi­p Committee, P.O. Box 145, Flintstone, Ga. 30725.

Deadline to submit an applicatio­n is Friday, April 7, 2017.
