Lady War­riors out to 2-0 start in 6-AAA North play

The Red-and-White opened sub­re­gion ac­tion with a pair of home vic­to­ries last week against Coahulla Creek and long­time ri­val Ring­gold.

LFO 7, Coahulla Creek 2

Last Tues­day, LFO scored three runs in the bot­tom of the first and never looked back, pound­ing out 10 hits against Lady Colt pitch­ing.

Shaniyah Jones had two hits, scored twice and knocked in a run, while Kar­son Brad­ford was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs. Jer­rian Jack­son was 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Keelie Mauk was 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Mor­gan Ritchey had a big night as a cour­tesy run­ner, swip­ing three bases and scor­ing twice.

Kourt­ney Mor­ri­son threw all seven in­nings, al­low­ing two earned runs on seven hits with two walks. She ended the night with four strike­outs.

LFO 6, Ring­gold 1

Brad­ford launched a two-run homer and the Lady War­riors pounded out dou­ble-digit hits to col­lect a Thurs­day night vic­tory over their county ri­vals.

Jones was 3-for-4 with a dou­ble and a run scored for LFO. Lyn­d­sey Teague was 2-for-2 with a dou­ble, a run scored and an RBI, while Mor­ri­son helped her own cause by go­ing 2-for-3 at the plate.

Mor­ri­son picked up the vic­tory by strik­ing out three in seven in­nings. The run she al­lowed was un­earned.

LFO (5-5 over­all, 2-0 in 6-AAA North) was slated to play a non-re­gion game Mon­day at Dade County, but re­sults were un­avail­able as of press time. They will travel to Chatsworth on Thurs­day for a date with Mur­ray County (5:30 p.m.).
