Her­itage slips past Dal­ton

The Her­itage Gen­er­als led 7-3 af­ter two in­nings, but had to hang on to pull out a 10-9 win over Dal­ton this past Thurs­day night in Boyn­ton.

The Lady Cata­mounts scored four in the top of the fourth to tie the game, but Her­itage would push home a solo run in the bot­tom half of the in­ning.

Dal­ton re­took the lead with two runs in the fifth, only to see Her­itage an­swer with two runs a half-in­ning later to re­gain the lead for good.

Rachel Gib­son got the win in the cir­cle in re­lief of starter Ash­ley Faulken­berry. Gib­son threw three score­less in­nings, walked three and gave up two hits. She also fanned three Dal­ton bat­ters.

Of­fen­sively, Bai­ley Chris­tol went 2-for-3 with a stolen base and two runs scored. Madi Mor­ris also went 2-for3 with a dou­ble and a triple.

She drove in two and scored three times, while Sarah Dye was 2-for-4. Katie Proc­tor was 1-for-3 with a dou­ble, but knocked in four runs for the Gen­er­als.

Re­sults of Mon­day’s game with Ring­gold at Lee Univer­sity were not avail­able as of press time. The Gen­er­als (5-4) will get back to re­gion ac­tion at Pick­ens on Tues­day (5:55 p.m.) be­fore host­ing LaFayette on Thurs­day (5:55 p.m.)

Her­itage’s sched­uled game last Tues­day at Gilmer was post­poned to due the death of a Gilmer soft­ball par­ent. A makeup date has yet to be an­nounced.
