Gor­don Lee set to be­gin Area 4-A play this week

Coming off a 5-0 run and a Gold Bracket cham­pi­onship at the LFO In­vi­ta­tional on Aug. 19, the Gor­don Lee Lady Tro­jans kept their win­ning streak alive early last week by crush­ing both North Mur­ray and Dade County dur­ing a Tues­day tri-match in Trenton.

Gor­don Lee thumped North Mur­ray, 25-13 and 25-5, while they han­dled Dade County, 25-12 and 25-8.

De­laney Bridges had nine kills for the Lady Tro­jans, fol­lowed by eight kills and a block from Aubree Yancey. Sum­mer Fitz­patrick added seven kills, while Mal­lory Col­lier dished out 32 as­sists on the night.

On Thurs­day in LaFayette, Class A No. 8-ranked Gor­don Lee picked up a 25-8, 27-25 win over Ridge­land, but saw the streak snapped with a 25-17, 25-18 loss to the Class AAAA No. 9-ranked Lady Ram­blers.

Fitz­patrick paced the Lady Tro­jans with a team-high 12 kills on the night, fol­lowed by Yancey with 11 kills and four blocks. Gra­cie O’Neal fin­ished with nine kills and 16 digs.

Gor­don Lee (12-5) play Tues­day at home against Mor­ris In­no­va­tive and North Cobb Chris­tian to open area play. They will step back out of area on Thurs­day for a tri-match at Her­itage that will also in­clude Chat­tanooga’s GPS. Both of those tri-matches will be­gin at 5 p.m.
