Gordon Lee set to begin Area 4-A play this week
Coming off a 5-0 run and a Gold Bracket championship at the LFO Invitational on Aug. 19, the Gordon Lee Lady Trojans kept their winning streak alive early last week by crushing both North Murray and Dade County during a Tuesday tri-match in Trenton.
Gordon Lee thumped North Murray, 25-13 and 25-5, while they handled Dade County, 25-12 and 25-8.
Delaney Bridges had nine kills for the Lady Trojans, followed by eight kills and a block from Aubree Yancey. Summer Fitzpatrick added seven kills, while Mallory Collier dished out 32 assists on the night.
On Thursday in LaFayette, Class A No. 8-ranked Gordon Lee picked up a 25-8, 27-25 win over Ridgeland, but saw the streak snapped with a 25-17, 25-18 loss to the Class AAAA No. 9-ranked Lady Ramblers.
Fitzpatrick paced the Lady Trojans with a team-high 12 kills on the night, followed by Yancey with 11 kills and four blocks. Gracie O’Neal finished with nine kills and 16 digs.
Gordon Lee (12-5) play Tuesday at home against Morris Innovative and North Cobb Christian to open area play. They will step back out of area on Thursday for a tri-match at Heritage that will also include Chattanooga’s GPS. Both of those tri-matches will begin at 5 p.m.
