Ridge­land pick up two wins in Trenton

Fresh off a Sil­ver Bracket ti­tle at the LFO In­vi­ta­tional on Aug. 19, the Ridge­land Lady Pan­thers went 2-2 this past week, scor­ing two wins on the road and suffering two losses in south Walker County.

On Mon­day, Ridge­land picked up wins over Mur­ray County (25-12, 25-18) and Dade County (25-18, 2515) in Trenton.

Jayda Jenk­ins led the Lady Pan­thers with nine kills and three aces against Mur­ray County. Rachel Atch­ley had two kills and 12 as­sists, while Lan­dree Dunn added two kills and a block. Sara Tay­lor had a pair of aces and Abbi Witherow came up a team-high five digs.

Against Dade County, Jenk­ins paced the of­fense with five kills,

of­fense with five kills, fol­lowed by Dunn with four kills and a block. Tori El­liott had three kills. Atch­ley had three aces and 17 as­sists, while Witherow added two aces.

Thurs­day found the Black-and-White in LaFayette in an all-Walker County tri­match.

Ridge­land opened with a 25-14, 25-18 loss to the Class AAAA No. 9-ranked Lady Ram­blers.

In­di­vid­ual sta­tis­tics for the Lady Pan­thers were not avail­able as of press time.

In the night­cap, Ridge­land fell to Class A No. 8-ranked Gor­don Lee, 25-8 and 27-25. Jenk­ins had four kills ver­sus Gor­don Lee, while fresh­man Sara Tay­lor, fill­ing in for an in­jured Sarah Wil­liams, had eight ser­vice points in the sec­ond set against the Lady Tro­jans.

Ridge­land (6-9) will be home Tues­day as they open area play ver­sus Gilmer at 5 p.m.

They will be back at home on Thurs­day in a tri-match with LFO and Look­out Val­ley, which also starts at 5.
