Mid­dle School Soft­ball: Oak­wood Chris­tian falls at CCS

The Oak­wood Chris­tian Mid­dle School Lady Ea­gles scored first last Tues­day, but couldn’t score of­ten enough as the Navy-andGold suc­cumbed to a 17-2 loss at Chat­tanooga Chris­tian.

McKen­ley Baggett hit a lead­off sin­gle and made it to third base be­fore Mag­gie Heard reached on an er­ror. Alex Haynes hit lined a sin­gle to plate Baggett with the game’s first run.

How­ever, the Lady Charg­ers would an­swer with three runs in the bot­tom of the first in­ning and, af­ter get­ting OCA in or­der in the sec­ond, put up 14 runs in the home half.

Ca­dyn Cahill would score in the top of the third for the Lady Ea­gles, but the game would end shortly there­after on the run rule.

Baggett fin­ished 1-for-2 with a stolen base, while Heard and Haynes were also 1-for2.

Oak­wood’s sched­uled game against OLPH on Fri­day was can­celled. The Lady Ea­gles will play this Thurs­day against Grace Academy at 5 p.m. The game will be held at the East Brain­erd ball fields.
