Rally falls short as Lady Mustangs lose to Dade Co.
The Saddle Ridge Lady Mustangs tried to rally late last Tuesday night, but the comeback attempt was too little too late as they dropped a 9-3 decision at Dade County.
The Navy-and-Red trailed 6-0 going into the sixth inning when they scored three times to cut the lead in half.
They loaded the bases before Haynie Gilstrap drew a walk to bring in a run. Then, after the Lady Mustangs reloaded the bases, Abby Sansing singled to centerfield to bring in Summer Burkett and Lexi Baker.
However, Dade County would respond with three runs in the bottom of the sixth to put the game away.
Mykeria Johnson also had a hit, while Sansing allowed three earned runs in the circle, finishing the game with two strikeouts.
Saddle Ridge’s game versus Heritage, slated for this past Thursday at LaFayette High School, was rained out. The Lady Mustangs (0-4) will play at Chattanooga Valley on Tuesday before facing Rossville at LHS on Thursday. Game time is set for 5 p.m. both nights.
