Gordon Lee clos­ing in on an­other 30-win sea­son

The eighth-ranked Gordon Lee High School vol­ley­ball team picked up a pair of wins last week, but suf­fered an Area 4-A set­back to top-ranked Mt. Paran Chris­tian.

Last Mon­day, the Lady Tro­jans opened a home tri-match by han­dling Class AAA Sono­rav­ille, 25-14 and 25-17. How­ever, the pow­er­ful Lady Ea­gles from At­lanta dashed Gordon Lee’s hopes for a sweep with a 25-9 and 25-13 vic­tory.

Aubree Yancey had nine kills, six blocks and four aces on the evening. Gra­cie O’Neal fin­ished with six kills and 10 digs. Mal­lory Col­lier picked up 17 as­sists, while Annie McDaniel had 14 digs.

The Navy-and-White hosted Dade County for a pair of var­sity matches this past Thurs­day and fin­ished the night with a pair of wins as they im­proved to 24-8 over­all on the sea­son

Gordon Lee won the opener, 25-18 and 2517, be­fore win­ning the sec­ond match, 25-20 and 25-13.

Yancey had nine kills and 10 blocks on the evening. Sum­mer Fitz­patrick picked up 18 kills, while Col­lier recorded 14 as­sists.
