Prairie Grove Purchases New Police Cars
In a special meeting last week, Prairie Grove City Council approved a resolution 5-0 to purchase two new police vehicles for about $27,000 each.
The vehicles, 2018 Ford Explorers, are in the city’s 2018 budget but state law requires the City Council to pass a resolution for purchases that exceed $20,000. The vehicles had arrived in Little Rock but the police department could not pick them up until the purchase was approved by the Council.
Mayor Sonny Hudson said he decided to call a special meeting instead of waiting until the May Council meeting to vote on the resolution.
The Explorers will replace the department’s oldest vehicles, a 2010 Chevrolet Impala and a 2013 Chevrolet Impala.
