LINCOLN — One of Lincoln’s new police officers is the former police chief for the city of Goshen.

Zeb Rone is a certified officer with 18 years of experience. He started the Goshen Police Department in 2016 but resigned as chief of police to run for mayor of Goshen in the November general election.

He also has worked for Madison County Sheriff’s Office and Fayetteville and Siloam Springs police departments.

Rone, 38, said he stepped down as Goshen police chief and then heard the city of Lincoln was accepting applications for an officer’s position and decided to apply for the job.

Law enforcement fits him, Rone said.

“It’s something I’ve always wanted to do,” Rone said. “I love helping people and I like being a problem-solver and I like leading. I remember where I came from and have empathy for people.”

Rone has three children who attend school in Siloam Springs. His hobbies include woodworking, kayaking and fishing.
