Lincoln Golfers Advance To State
LINCOLN — The Lincoln High School golf team finished as 3A-1 West District tournament runner-up and qualified for State 3A golf competition.
Valley Springs won the District 3A-1 first place trophy with a team score of 275. Lincoln was second with 296 and Elkins third with 346. The 3A-1 boys district golf tournament was held Sept. 17, 2018, at Harrison. Senior Sterling Morphis shot an 85 to pace the Wolves good for second among individual standings. Bodie King, of Valley Springs, was the medalist with an 80.
Chance Warner was third for Valley Springs with a 90 while Josh Jetton placed fourth for Lincoln with 103 just ahead of fifth place Hunter Reese, of Valley Springs, with a 105 followed by Easton Bounds, of Lincoln, in the sixth spot at 108. Coming in seventh was Clint Van Pooke, of Elkins, at 109. Dawson Calico, of Lincoln, was eighth with a 112 score. Holding down the ninth and 10th positions were Elkins’ teammates, Westin Wheeler, 118; and Paxton Barnett, 119. Tyler King, of Elkins, shot a 124.
State 3A boys golf was held Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018, at Burns Park Golf Course in North Little Rock.
