Lin­coln Golfers Ad­vance To State

LIN­COLN — The Lin­coln High School golf team fin­ished as 3A-1 West Dis­trict tour­na­ment run­ner-up and qual­i­fied for State 3A golf com­pe­ti­tion.

Val­ley Springs won the Dis­trict 3A-1 first place tro­phy with a team score of 275. Lin­coln was se­cond with 296 and Elkins third with 346. The 3A-1 boys dis­trict golf tour­na­ment was held Sept. 17, 2018, at Har­ri­son. Se­nior Ster­ling Mor­phis shot an 85 to pace the Wolves good for se­cond among in­di­vid­ual stand­ings. Bodie King, of Val­ley Springs, was the medal­ist with an 80.

Chance Warner was third for Val­ley Springs with a 90 while Josh Jet­ton placed fourth for Lin­coln with 103 just ahead of fifth place Hunter Reese, of Val­ley Springs, with a 105 fol­lowed by Eas­ton Bounds, of Lin­coln, in the sixth spot at 108. Com­ing in sev­enth was Clint Van Pooke, of Elkins, at 109. Daw­son Cal­ico, of Lin­coln, was eighth with a 112 score. Hold­ing down the ninth and 10th po­si­tions were Elkins’ team­mates, Westin Wheeler, 118; and Pax­ton Bar­nett, 119. Tyler King, of Elkins, shot a 124.

State 3A boys golf was held Tues­day, Oct. 2, 2018, at Burns Park Golf Course in North Lit­tle Rock.
