Walt Disney World’s Contemporary Resort and Bay Lake Tower is the total package when it comes to Disney Resorts. That means prime location, incredible dining, amenities galore, and tons of Disney magic! Here are my top ten things you’re sure to love at the Contemporary Resort.

1. Location:

Magic Kingdom is just around the corner, and that means rooms with one incredible view! Guests with Tower Rooms facing the Magic Kingdom are able to see the fireworks over Cinderella Castle from their own terraces.

2. Walt Disney World’s Monorail:

The monorail begins operation 30-minutes before parks open, and closes an hour after park closing time. Catch a ride right at the Contemporary Resort for quick access to parks and most Deluxe Resorts.

3. Character Dining:

Chef Mickey’s buffet is open for breakfast, brunch, and dinner. Get a table side meet and greet with your favorite Disney characters including Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Goofy, and Donald Duck. They’ll stop for photos and autographs while you dine on family favorites.

4. Pools:

Contemporary Resort has two pools located along the shores of Bay Lake for guests to enjoy. There’s a water playground for the little ones, a 17-foot high curving waterslide at the main pool, two whirlpool spas, and an all-ages quiet pool, Bay Pool, over Bay Lake Tower. If you’re staying at Bay Towers, Bay Cove Pool has a 20-foot waterslide with zero-depth entry and nearby bubbling geysers water play area. There’s just something about relaxing in a pool while gazing out across a lake that seems so serene.

5. Cabanas:

Exclusive to only Grand Floridian and Contemporary Resort guests, renting a poolside cabana is a luxurious treat perfect for a day or evening at the pool. Two padded lounge chairs, two padded straight-backed chairs, LCD television with cable, Bluetooth speakers, phone, ceiling fan, and soft plush towels are all included. Mini refrigerator stocked with sodas and waters is complimentary and if you really want to splurge, private dining is available as well.

6. California Grill:

When you check-in at the podium on the second floor of Disney’s Contemporary Resort, a Cast Member will escort you via private elevator up to the 15th floor location of the California Grill. You’ll have the best panoramic views while dining on fresh gourmet cuisine. The menu changes seasonally and has favorites such as Florida Swordfish and Srf-wagyu Beef Rib-eye. With such fantastic views, make sure to reserve a spot for one of the best fireworks dining experience on property. You can also enjoy a decadent brunch complete with live musical entertainment and complimentary mimosas every Sunday morning. Only Disney would have a brunch dessert of macarons and chocolate truffles!

7. Electrical Water Pageant:

The Electrical Water Pageant is a colorful water parade that glides across the Seven Seas Lagoon. So grab that cup of hot cocoa and head to the Contemporary Resort’s own viewing spot. Check at the resort front desk for the most current times and best viewing areas.

8. Pirates and Pal’s Fireworks Cruise:

Prepare for voyage with pre-sailing snacks like ice cream, popcorn, and Pirate Punch inside Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Captain Hook and Mr. Smee will greet their newest crew members before parading down to set sail. The fearless Captain Patch will lead you and the crew, singing songs of the seas before stopping for a spectacular view of Magic Kingdom fireworks. You’ll also have a front row seat for the Electrical Water Pageant. There are more surprises to be had on this voyage, including a special treat at the end. Make reservations up to 90 days in advance for your entire crew!

9. Lounges & Bars:

Contemporary Resort has plenty of spots for cool tropical cocktails. The Wave Lounge is a stylish bar inside of The Wave of American Flavors restaurant. Incredible cocktails and organic beers make this trendy spot for adults the ideal location to relax. With a view of Bay Lake, the Outer Rim offers specialty cocktails such as the Blue “Glow-tini” or the Pina COLAVA. The Cove Bar is a private poolside bar for Guests of Bay Lake Towers and Disney Vacation Club members.

10. Disney Vacation Club’s Bay Lake Tower:

Within walking distance to the gates of Magic Kingdom this addition to the Contemporary Resort offers studios, multi-bedroom villas, kitchens or kitchenettes, and views unlike any other.
