Walt Dis­ney World in Or­lando, Florida is the most mag­i­cal place on earth, and our fa­vorite Dis­ney Parks des­ti­na­tion! But there’s lots more go­ing on world­wide – let’s take a look at what Dis­ney is up to around the globe this month!

Dis­ney­land Re­sort: Ana­heim, Cal­i­for­nia

For Christ­mas, the Grand Cal­i­for­nian Ho­tel fea­tured a gin­ger­bread in­ter­pre­ta­tion of the ho­tel’s façade made with 600 pounds of gin­ger­bread and stand­ing 7 feet tall and 12 feet wide.

At Dis­ney’s Cal­i­for­nia Ad­ven­ture, The Twi­light Zone Tower of Ter­ror is clos­ing on Jan­uary 2, 2017 to be re-opened later this year as Guardians of the Gal­axy: Mis­sion Break­out.

The Main Street Elec­tri­cal Parade will re­turn to Dis­ney­land on Jan­uary 20 with nightly per­for­mances un­til June 18, 2017.

Plans are in the works to build a new 7-storey park­ing struc­ture and el­e­vated walk­way on Har­bour Boule­vard in ad­vance of the even­tual Star Wars Land open­ing.

A fourth ho­tel is in the works for this re­sort, which will be lo­cated at the north­ern end of the Down­town Dis­ney Park­ing Lot.

Splitsville Lux­ury Lanes is com­ing to Down­town Dis­ney in late 2017.

Begin­ning March 26, 2017, Dis­ney­land Paris will be cel­e­brat­ing it’s 25th An­niver­sary – It’ Time to Sparkle.

Star Tours: The Ad­ven­tures Con­tinue will open at Dis­ney­land Paris this spring, along with a Star Wars Hyper­space Moun­tain over­lay on Dis­cov­ery­land’s Space Moun­tain.

Dis­ney Stars on Parade will de­but along with Mickey Presents “Happy An­niver­sary Dis­ney­land Paris” and The Star­lit Princess Waltz.

A new night­time spec­tac­u­lar will pre­miere – Dis­ney Il­lu­mi­na­tions – and will in­clude lights, pro­jec­tions, an spe­cial ef­fects.

From Jan­uary 14-March 26, 2017, the Walt Dis­ney Stu­dios park will host The Sea­son of the Force, in­clud­ing the First Or­der March, Stormtrooper Pa­trol, Jedi Train­ing Academy, spe­cial events and a new night­time pre­sen­ta­tion of Star Wars: A Ga­lac­tic Cel­e­bra­tion.

New spe­cial “ex­plo­sive” pro­jec­tion ef­fects have been added to Big Thun­der Moun­tain.

Dis­ney Vil­lage has added a new fast ca­sual Ital­ian restau­rant to its of­fer­ings – Vapi­ano’s.

Tokyo Dis­ney Re­sort: Tokyo, Ja­pan

Events planned for 2017 in­clude: New Years Pro­gram, Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Fan­tasy, Sweet Duffy, Dis­ney’s Easter, Tan­abata Days, Natsu Mat­suri & Dis­ney’s Sum­mer Fes­ti­val, Dis­ney Hal­loween, and Christ­mas Fan­tasy & Christ­mas Wishes.

TDR Now is the of­fi­cial Tokyo Dis­ney Re­sort wait times app, and is now avail­able on IOS.

A Star Wars in­spired black ice cream cone has de­buted at Toyko Dis­ney­land.

On Jan­uary 11, 2017, Grand Cir­cuit Race­way will close per­ma­nently to make way for a Fan­ta­sy­land ex­pan­sion in­clud­ing an Alice in Won­der­land area and a new Beauty and the Beast at­trac­tion.

Tokyo has an­nounced plans to add a Scan­di­na­vian port of call in­clud­ing a Frozen area.

Hong Kong Dis­ney­land: Hong Kong, China

Iron Man Ex­pe­ri­ence is set to open in early Jan­uary 2017 at Hong Kong Dis­ney­land.

An enor­mous in­fra­struc­ture over­haul has been an­nounced for this re­sort, in­clud­ing an ex­pan­sion of the Marvel uni­verse, a reimag­in­ing of Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, the ad­di­tion of Ad­ven­ture­land Show­place fea­tur­ing Moana’s Vil­lage Fes­ti­val, a new Frozen themed area, and a trans­formed Cas­tle and hub area which will show­case new day and night en­ter­tain­ment.

Shang­hai Dis­ney Re­sort: Shang­hai, China

Even thought this park has only been open a few months, two at­trac­tions are al­ready closed in­def­i­nitely for main­te­nance: Roar­ing Rapids and Voy­age to the Crys­tal Grotto.

Au­lani – A Dis­ney Re­sort & Spa: Ko Olina, Hawaii

Moana has be­gun meet­ing guests at Au­lani.

In Novem­ber, and new luau - KA WA’A – has be added to the re­sort’s en­ter­tain­ment of­fer­ings, along with Mene­hune Mis­chief, a din­ner show.

Ad­ven­tures by Dis­ney

Love the itin­er­ar­ies of­fered from Ad­ven­tures by Dis­ney, but look­ing for some­thing for just your fam­ily? Now you can book pri­vate travel pacakges with the team from Ad­ven­tures by Dis­ney!

New of­fer­ings in 2017 will in­clude a Dis­ney River Cruise along the Rhine River, more dates for the Win­ter in Wy­oming package, as well as ad­di­tions to the China and Aus­tralia va­ca­tion plans.

Dis­ney Cruise Line

The pop­u­lar Star Wars Day at Sea in­tro­duced in 2016 will re­turn in 2017 with 15 sail­ing dates, in ad­di­tion to Marvel Day at Sea which will de­but in the fall.

So far, 2018 sail­ings in­clude San Juan to South­ern Cal­i­for­nia in­clud­ing Bon­aire, San Diego to Baja and Mex­i­can Riviera or Cabo San Lu­cas and Ense­nada, and sev­eral itin­er­ar­ies out of Mi­ami and Port Canaveral.

Frozen, A Mu­si­cal Spec­tac­u­lar has pre­miered on board the Dis­ney Won­der.

The Dis­ney Won­der has a new din­ing op­tion to de­light guests – Tiana’s Place, com­plete with New Or­leans in­spired fare and live en­ter­tain­ment.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story made over $290 mil­lion world­wide on its open­ing week­end.

Dis­ney’s Moana has grossed over $325 mil­lion world­wide.

Newsies: The Broad­way Mu­si­cal will be com­ing to US movie the­atres for a 3 day en­gage­ment begin­ning on Fe­bru­ary 16.

Dis­ney­na­ture has re­leased Grow­ing Up Wild on Dis­ney Movies Any­where – the story fol­lows 5 young an­i­mals and their ad­ven­tures.

Mar­ket­ing for Cars 3 is de­cid­edly dark and more grown up than we are used to from Pixar – and things don’t look good for Light­ning Mcqueen.
