Pandora - The World of Avatar is officially open! Can you believe it? Have you had the chance to visit already, or will you visit this summer? There are many updates that arrived with the opening of Pandora, including a Mobile Order option at Satu’li Canteen. This is a unique option that lets you pre-order from the My Disney Experience app. Disney plans to extend this option throughout the Walt Disney World Resort.
There’s more great news this month including tickets for Mickey’s Not-so-scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. There’s never been a better time to visit Walt Disney World!
The last showing of the nighttime spectacular Wishes at Magic Kingdom was on May 11th. On Friday May 12th, Happily Ever After debuted as the latest and greatest fireworks and projection display. If you missed the live stream, you can see a replay on the Disney Parks Blog.
The first Mickey’s Not-so-scary Halloween Party will be August 25th and tickets are on sale now! There are 32 spooktacular party dates to choose from. You can also get your tickets for one of 21 jolly days of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Ticket prices went up and are tiered, meaning if you want a popular day, you are going to pay more. Some dates can sell out so if you have your heart set on going, get your tickets early.
Experiment 626 has broken out of his “high security prisoner transport chamber!” Stitch’s Great Escape has come out of seasonal closure and will be open from 10 am until 6pm daily until August 19th.
A love-themed pin event is coming to Epcot August 25th and 26th. The special ticketed event will feature limited edition pins and is a great opportunity for collectors and those who enjoy pin trading. The cost is $150 per guest and included limited edition pins and a $30 Disney gift card.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
“The Music of Pixar LIVE!” began on May 26th for a limited engagement. While space is available, you can book a dining package to guarantee reserved seating to the show. Eligible restaurants include Hollywood & Vine, The Hollywood Brown Derby, and Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano. Dining reservations like this are a great way to get a Fastpass (essentially) without using one of your three selections.
Lightning Mcqueen is back! For a limited time, you can see a sneak peek of the upcoming Cars 3 film at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The preview will be in the One Man’s Dream attraction and will feature artwork from the production. This will be a short-lived preview as the film opens in theaters on June 16th.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
This month, this section could be dubbed “Pandora- World of Avatar” as most of the news covers the opening of the newest land.

Leading up to the opening of Pandora - The World of AVATAR, Disney released sneak peeks into life outside of earth. No matter if you are a fan of the film or not, it’s hard to deny the new Audio-animatronic technology used in the the Na’vi Shaman of Songs, is incredible.
Start your day off right with a delicious breakfast at Satu’li Canteen in Pandora. Some of the menu options include Vegetable Goat Cheese Frittata, Steamed Pod with Scrambled Egg, Bacon, and Spinach, and even Cinnamon Swirl French Toast for the kids.
Mobile Order, the option to pre-order your food, has arrived in Pandora. This option is available at the Satu’li Canteen and will eventually expand to other locations within Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Using the My Disney Experience app, you can place your order and pre-pay, and then tap the “I’m here” button when you arrive so the kitchen can freshly prepare your meal. During the initial launch, you will only be able to pay using a credit card (not dining plan entitlements) and if you have special diet restrictions, you will need to order in person.
With Pandora now open, you can become the proud mom or dad to a banshee! The banshees come in ten different colors and have multiple movements and sounds. The interactive puppets will help keep the wonders of Pandora alive long after you have returned to earth. Adoption fees are $49.95 and you can be matched with your banshee at Windtraders inside Pandora.
Explore the new world of Pandora while saving animals back on Earth. Through the My Disney Experience app, you will be able to contact an “ecological specialist” to complete some special missions to unlock contributions towards the Disney Conservation Fund. It looks like it will be a lot of fun for the whole family!
If you have Memory Maker on your next trip to Walt Disney World, head to Disney’s Animal Kingdom for some wild magic shots. Show your Disney Side with butterflies, balloons, Flik, Kaa, and many more as you capture family memories. Be sure to ask your Photopass Photographer for a magic shot every time you get your picture taken; you never know what magic will appear.
There’s a new Memory Maker photo shoot in town! Located at Tren-d in Disney Springs, you can find a Disney Photopass Studio set up to capture your Disney Side. A variety of virtual backdrops are available, including Star Wars inspired scenes. Photos can be purchased separately if you don’t have the Memory Maker entitlement.
Free dining was announced in May. In case you missed it, here’s the scoop. Value and Moderate resorts are eligible for Quick Service dining and Deluxe resorts are eligible for the regular one Table Service and one Quick Service dining plan. The package must
include two days of park tickets plus hopper. There are many date exclusions including all of October. Also, availability is extremely limited. If the dates you want are booked, keep trying.
If free dining isn’t your thing, you can still save on rooms this fall with Disney’s Enchanted Escape. You can save up to 20% at Value Resorts and up to 25% at all other resorts most nights from August 1 to October 7. The offer excludes 3-bedroom villas, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort- Little Mermaid Standard rooms, and Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. Rooms, of course, are limited. You must book by August 31st.
There are two new Magicband 2 colors. Sort of. The sort of part means that they aren’t included in the free Magicbands you get when you stay at a Walt Disney World Resort, but they can be purchased separately. The new black Magicband features either a Star Wars design or Grumpy. The new teal Magicband features Elsa from Frozen. A Magicband purchased separately and linked to your My Disney Experience account. If you’re a fan of the new colors or characters, it’s a fun way to show your Disney-side!
Feel like a VIP as you celebrate your next birthday or special occasion with a special Mickey Mouse ears cake. Starting in May, you can order the chocolate or white chocolate cakes from any Table Service restaurant owned by Walt Disney World Resort. The special treat will cost you $35 (plus tax and gratuity) and serves 4-6 people. You could always order specialty cakes in the past, but what makes this unique is you don’t have to preorder, but you can. Although, preordering doesn’t hurt since they may have limited quantities the day of, but it’s a neat way to add on a last-minute surprise.
Disney has released prices for Night of Joy concert tickets. This year they have tiered the prices to accommodate for those who want two-night tickets and those who want to add on a day in the park. Single-night concert only tickets are $45, Two-night concert only tickets are $69, and guests can add on a one day Walt Disney World theme park ticket for only $62 (all prices are plus tax.) The concerts will be held at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in September and tickets will go on sale in early June. We’ll keep you updated when they go on sale.
Closings and Renovations- June
The Hall of Presidents will be closed until June 29th to make room for the new president.
Mission Space will be closed June 5th through July 28th.
Animal Hospital and Veterinary Treatment room at Rafiki’s Planet Watch will be closed until mid-june.
Portobello Country Italian Trattoria in Disney Springs will be closed until Fall 2017.
The Roaring Fork and Trout Pass Pool Bar at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge will be closed until summer 2017.
Disney’s Yacht Club Resort will have room and Convention Center refurbishments through 2017.
Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort will be undergoing refurbishments until sometime in 2018. The renovations will close Old Port Royale Food Court, Shutters at Old Port Royale, Cabana Pool Bar and Calypso Trading Post. Other food options will be available during this time.
Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort will undergo refurbishments through late 2018.
Future closures to consider:
Disney Quest is closing (again…really…this time) on July 3rd.
Cirque du Soleil: La Nouba will take its final bow on December 31st.
Splash Mountain will be closed from August 28th until November 16th.
Don’t forget, closures are subject to change without notice. If you have your heart set on an attraction, be sure to check before you go. Also, check the parks for changes the day of your arrival.
