THE LITTLE THINGS PHOTOPASS MAGIC SHOTS
As if having your Walt Disney World Resort vacation chronicled by a professional photographer (via Disney’s Photopass Photo service) wasn’t awesome enough, The Walt Disney Company went ahead and “plussed” their practically perfect, paparazzi product by providing patrons with these wondrous things called “Magic Shots.”
Magic Shots are specially posed photos that, upon appearing in your My Disney Experience App, will have a cute Disney static or animated element magically added to them. In addition, it also allows you to add fun, decorative borders and stickers to any of your Photopass photos on the mydisneyphotopass.com website. What is that magic element you may be wondering? Sorry folks, it’s a surprise—and my lips are sealed!
To give you an idea though (without spoiling the fun), a Magic Shot happens like this: the Disney Photopass photographer will tell a member of your travel party, or all of you in many cases, to pose or act a certain way, then, take your photo. Perhaps they will ask that someone hold out their hands, reach for the sky, or look down at the ground in surprise or horror. No matter what the directions are, follow them to the letter, have fun, and wait for your Magic Shot to reveal itself. You can view the image in the My Disney Experience app on your smartphone or alternately, at an in-park Photopass kiosk. While Disney states that photos can take up to 24 hours to appear in your My Disney Experience account, they usually are viewable within a short time.
There is no additional charge for these Magic Shots, but be advised that not all Photopass photographers will, or can, do them. Some are just not trained, and sometimes during the busier days when the lines are long, there just isn’t enough time. That being said, if you wish to add some Magic Shots to your collection of Photopass photos, ask any photographer if they can do some. Asking can’t hurt.
Magic Shot opportunities are available at all four Disney theme parks, and while they used to only be offered during the daytime hours, there have been a couple of nighttime experiences popping up. If you happen to be lucky enough to attend one of the hard ticket parties at Magic Kingdom, such as Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas party, be sure to snag a few of the holiday Magic Shot offerings that are exclusive to those events.
If you are purchasing the all-inclusive Memory Maker photo package, definitely be sure to get the most bang for your Disney buck and start collecting Magic Shots!
