Nicklaus Children’s Hospital: New Name, Same Heart
The Together For The Children campaign was launched with the ambitious goal of raising $150 million in funding by 2017 to help hasten the detection and prevention of deadly diseases and provide the best care for children in South Florida and around the wo
Seeking to support children and families throughout the continuum of life and reach beyond borders to bring hope and health wherever and whenever it’s needed, the campaign highlights several significant priorities. Among them, supporting the hospital in saving lives by way of a new stateof-the-art Emergency Department and enhanced critical care units to be housed in the new Advanced Pediatric Care Pavilion, now under construction on the hospital’s main campus. Equally important, the campaign seeks to expand pediatric outreach, providing hope and healing through the enhancement of key centers of excellence and advancing toward the future with global/telehealth medicine, research and molecular medicine and programmatic support.
The Nicklaus Children’s Emergency Department treats more than 90,000 patients each year making it one of the
busiest pediatric emergency departments in the country. The 47,000-square-foot expansion and enhancement of the department allows for a greater impact on families selecting Nicklaus Children’s during times of crisis.
The 212,000-square-foot, six-story Advanced Pediatric Care Pavilion promises to be much more than simply a building. Equipped with the most advanced tools and technology, the pavilion will enhance the life-saving work of the hospital’s three highly recognized critical care units.
Nicklaus Children’s is committed to enhancing convenience for South Florida families and providing unparalleled care through the expansion of pediatric outreach. Translation: from southern Miami-Dade to Jupiter, Florida, you’ll be able to find a Nicklaus Children’s location near you.
In March 2015, the campaign took a major leap forward as Jack and Barbara Nicklaus became Chairs after making a generous pledge of $60 million through the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation to Miami Children’s Health System. Their singular act of philanthropy was recognized by rebranding the hospital as Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, and they will lead the fundraising efforts for the campaign to help reach the $150 million goal.
The Together For The Children campaign is transforming the way healthcare is accessed, delivered and experienced. With innovation as its mantra and the campaign’s singular objective of coming together for the children, Nicklaus Children’s is advancing toward the future by thinking big and achieving the impossible. -This information provided courtesy of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital
