Man res­cued af­ter fall­ing into river

KAILUA-KONA — A 44-year-old man was taken in crit­i­cal con­di­tion to Hilo Med­i­cal Cen­ter on Sun­day af­ter he ap­par­ently slipped and fell into Wailuku River at Boil­ing Pots in Hilo.

Re­spond­ing to the 2:57 p.m. re­port, fire res­cue per­son­nel ar­rived at Boil­ing Pots to learn from the man’s fam­ily that he had slipped, struck his head and fell into the river, ac­cord­ing to the Hawaii Fire De­part­ment.

Res­cue per­son­nel de­ployed from Chop­per 1 re­cov­ered the man. He was then taken to the hospi­tal.

No ad­di­tional in­for­ma­tion on the man’s con­di­tion was avail­able as of press time.
