Lions take lead early in 8-1 win over Gentry

GRAVETTE — The Lions scored four runs in the first and two in both the third and sixth innings before the visiting Pioneers managed to get a run on the board in their final at bat in the top of the seventh, to rack up an 8-1 victory over their Highway 59 rivals to the south.

Gentry’s only run came on an Ayden Smartt single to third, followed by an error and a Sean Pierce single to left to bring in Smartt.

Gravette scored in the first on a single by Dylan Gruver, a walk by Kenton Tajchman, and a single by Hunter Cole.

Brodie Parsons pitched seven innings, allowing one run and three hits. He struck out nine and walked zero.

Gravette Lions had seven hits. Kilby Roberts and Mason Dagley each had multiple hits. Parsons had two RBIs.

Shiloh 7, Gravette 4

A big inning for the Saints of Shiloh Christian cost the Lions the game on Friday in Springdale. Shiloh scored five runs in the fifth to take the lead and secure the win in the non-league game.

Gravette scored two in the first and two in the sixth on four hits. Dylan Gruver had two of those hits, including a double.

Hunter Cole and Jonah Keener pitched in the game, with Keener taking over in the fifth.
