Hi­wasse Fall Fes­ti­val slated Sept. 23

HI­WASSE — The com­mu­nity of Hi­wasse will host its an­nual Hi­wasse Fall Fes­ti­val from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Satur­day, Sept. 23. Ac­tiv­i­ties will be held at the Hi­wasse com­mu­nity build­ing, 13680 Fire House Lane in Hi­wasse.

Ham­burger or hot dog meals, in­clud­ing chips, drink and dessert, can be pur­chased for $5 each. Farm­ers’ mar­ket ven­dors will have booths set up, sell­ing a va­ri­ety of lo­cally grown fresh pro­duce. In­flat­a­bles, games, pump­kin paint­ing and lots of free fun will be avail­able for the kids. Mu­sic and karaoke will be pro­vided by Randy Steele.

The chili cook-off, al­ways a pop­u­lar fea­ture of the fes­ti­val, will be held again this year with the win­ning chili cook re­ceiv­ing a $50 cash prize. Chili sam­ples may be pur­chased for $1 each. Any­one in­ter­ested in en­ter­ing the chili cook-off should call 479531-0472. Hi­wasse gar­dener Paul Ma­hon set up a booth and sold his fresh veg­eta­bles at the 2016 Hi­wasse Fall Fes­ti­val. Ma­hon will be back this year with more pro­duce at the an­nual event, planned Sept. 23 at the Hi­wasse com­mu­nity build­ing.
