Gentry falls to Lady Saints, Lady Elks
GENTRY — The Gentry Lady Pioneer volleyball team hosted Shiloh Christian on Thursday, Sept. 7. The girls lost, but they played their hardest and kept Shiloh’s score close.
“We knew what we needed to work on to get stronger as a team, and we practiced all week on it,” said freshman Hannah Jackson. “During the game, we got to see the positive effect of what we had been working on, and we held our own against them,” she added
The girls lost by scores of 25-14, 25-19 and 25-14.
The game was a good learning experience, and the Lady Pioneers are proud of how they played.
“After the game as we high-fived and said ‘good game,’ the Shiloh coach told us we made them play for the win and it was a game both teams deserved,” Jackson said.
The girls’ next game was at Prairie Grove on Tuesday (after press time).
On Tuesday, Sept. 5, the Gentry Lady Pioneers played the Elkins Lady Elks. Though the girls played to their full potential and it was a tough game, the girls lost.
“Even though we lost, we still played as a team,” said sophomore Madison Stanfill. “We worked together, communicated and gave it our all.”
The Gentry girls lost to Elkins, 25-18, 25-14 and 25-16.
