Miss Oc­to­ber­fest Pageants set for Oct. 28

Gen­try’s Miss Oc­to­ber­fest Pageants will be held Satur­day, Oct. 28, at the Gen­try High School au­di­to­rium. The pageants are spon­sored by the Gen­try Ju­nior High Cheer­lead­ers. The pageant is open to any and all par­tic­i­pants, with age di­vi­sions from 0 months to 18 years, in­clud­ing di­vi­sions for boys from 0 months to 6 years of age. It is not re­quired that par­tic­i­pants be res­i­dents of Gen­try. Ap­pli­ca­tions will be avail­able on­line at the gen­try­p­i­oneers. com web­site and con­tain in­for­ma­tion re­gard­ing times and fees. Dead­line for ap­pli­ca­tions is Oct. 23. Don­key bas­ket­ball show planned for Oct. 3

The Dairy­land Don­key Bas­ket­ball Show, hosted by the Gen­try Mid­dle and High School choirs, will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tues­day, Oct. 3, in the Gen­try High School gym. Ju­niors will play se­niors in the first game, and parents will play against school staff in the sec­ond game. Ad­vanced tick­ets are $7. Tick­ets at the door (if avail­able) will be $10. Maysville fundraiser sup­per sched­uled

A fall fundraiser spon­sored by the Maysville Ex­ten­sion Homemak­ers Club for the ex­penses and up­keep of the Maysville Com­mu­nity Build­ing has been sched­uled for Fri­day, Sept. 29, at the Com­mu­nity Build­ing. The menu will con­sist of corn­bread and beans, coleslaw and drink for a do­na­tion. Serv­ing will be­gin at 5:30 p.m. Home­made pies and desserts will be avail­able for pur­chase as well. Do­na­tions may also be mailed to Maysville Ex­ten­sion Homemak­ers Club in care of Gwen Sin­gle­ton, sec­re­tary/trea­surer, 13969 Wet Prairie Rd., Gravette, AR 72736.

Gen­try Band sell­ing Blue & Gold prod­ucts

Gen­try March­ing Band is rais­ing money by sell­ing Blue & Gold prod­ucts to sup­port the 2017 March­ing Con­test sea­son. This year, the band will par­tic­i­pate in five march­ing com­pe­ti­tions and needs help to fund travel, con­test fees and meals for band mem­bers. Blue & Gold prod­ucts of­fered in­clude sausage, chicken ten­der­loin frit­ters and thick-sliced ba­con. These prod­ucts are unique and not avail­able for pur­chase in stores. De­catur FFA sell­ing Blue & Gold meats

The De­catur chap­ter of the Fu­ture Farm­ers of Amer­ica (FFA) is cur­rently sell­ing Blue & Gold meats un­til Sept. 30. Breaded chicken is $21 for a 5-pound bag, ba­con is $17 for 3.5 pounds and sausage is $7 for 2.5 pounds. Free quilt class planned Satur­day in Gravette

A class for area quil­ters and crafters will be held at 12:30 p.m. Satur­day, Sept. 16, at the Church of Christ an­nex, 202 Irv­ing Street S.W., in Gravette. In­struc­tion will be given on a quilt block and a “show and tell” ses­sion will be held. Please bring fin­ished projects or works in progress and a snack to share.

Gravette li­brary to host an­nual gala Oct. 7

The Gravette Pub­lic Li­brary is host­ing its an­nual gala from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Satur­day, Oct. 7, at the Gravette High School com­mons. Theme of the event is a “who-dun-it” mur­der mys­tery. Clues will be pre­sented through­out the evening to help guests de­ter­mine the iden­tity of the mur­derer. All those who guess cor­rectly will be en­tered in a prize draw­ing. A 1960s-themed din­ner will be catered by Steve Martinez, David Bar­ber will con­duct a live auc­tion, and mu­sic will be pro­vided by Pa­trick Bell. Tick­ets are $35 each or may be bought at a dis­count by pur­chas­ing a ta­ble of 8. Tick­ets are pre-sale only and sales will end Sept. 30. Smoked rib din­ner planned Sept. 22

The Billy V. Hall Se­nior Ac­tiv­ity and Well­ness Cen­ter, 1870 Limekiln Road in Gravette, will hold a take-out smoked rib din­ner from 5 to 7 p.m. Fri­day, Sept. 22. The meal will in­clude three smoked ribs, baked beans, po­tato salad, roll, dessert and drink, for $8 per meal. The din­ner is a fundraiser for the Meals on Wheels program that serves Gravette, De­catur, Sul­phur Springs, Hi­wasse and Maysville. Meals may be pre-or­dered by call­ing the Cen­ter at 479-787-5950.

Lions Club bean sup­per sched­uled Sept. 30

The Gravette Lions Club will spon­sor a bean sup­per from 5 to 8 p.m. Satur­day, Sept. 30, at the Gravette Civic Cen­ter, 401 Char­lotte Street S.E. Cost will be $5 for all-you­can-eat beans and corn­bread and a soft drink. All pro­ceeds will be used for Gravette Lions Club projects.

Gravette Pub­lic Li­brary plans hog raf­fle

Tick­ets are be­ing sold for a hog raf­fle spon­sored by the Gravette Pub­lic Li­brary ad­vi­sory board. Tick­ets, avail­able for $5 each or six for $25, may be pur­chased at the Gravette Pub­lic Li­brary on Main Street. The hog was do­nated by Roy Per­rine and pro­cess­ing by South­west Pro­cess­ing, South­west City, Mo. Draw­ing for the hog will be held Oct. 7 at the an­nual li­brary gala. All pro­ceeds will ben­e­fit the Gravette Pub­lic Li­brary.

NAGS to meet Sept. 18

The North­west Arkansas Ge­nealog­i­cal So­ci­ety will meet at 6 p.m. on Mon­day, Sept. 18, at the Ben­tonville Pub­lic Li­brary, 405 South Main Street in Ben­tonville. Toni Fen­ton, records man­ager at the Ben­ton County Ar­chive’s Of­fice in Rogers, will present a program about us­ing the county records for fam­ily re­search. Li­brary book sale planned Sept. 30

A book sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Satur­day, Sept. 30, at the old Gravette Pub­lic Li­brary, just east of the city pool at 407 Char­lotte Street S.E. Books, CDs and DVDs will be avail­able at bar­gain prices or shop­pers may fill a whole bag with books for $5. No book sale will be held Satur­day, Oct. 7, but the reg­u­lar first Satur­day book sales will re­sume Satur­day, Nov. 4.

Pickin’ Time on 59 set for Sept. 28-30

Pickin’ Time on 59, a garage- and yard-sale event in com­mu­ni­ties along Arkansas High­way 59 from Siloam Springs to Sul­phur Springs, is set for Sept. 28-30, be­tween the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Check with your city of­fice or cham­ber of­fice for lo­cal rules and guide­lines.

Glow Ride set Sept. 30

A glow ride is set for Sept. 30 in Gen­try City Park. Cy­clists of all ages will ride from the park, down Main Street and back. Bi­cy­clists will meet in the park at 6 p.m. to dec­o­rate their bikes with glow sticks and lights. The ride will start at 7 p.m.
