Gen­try Pub­lic Li­brary to hold cel­e­bra­tion

GEN­TRY — The Gen­try Pub­lic Li­brary and the Gen­try Pub­lic Li­brary As­so­ci­a­tion will host a pub­lic re­cep­tion on the af­ter­noon of Friday, Oct. 20, in cel­e­bra­tion of both the li­brary’s 10th an­niver­sary in the refurbished Carl Hard­ware Store and the in­ter­mit­tent ex­is­tence for more than a cen­tury of a lend­ing li­brary in the city.

Fin­ger foods and re­fresh­ments will be pro­vided and served by the McKee Foods Cor­po­ra­tion in the McKee Com­mu­nity Room from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. At­ten­dees can en­joy dis­cus­sions with lo­cal au­thors, view dis­plays of Gen­try his­tor­i­cal pho­to­graphs, bid on a silen­tauc­tion gift bas­ket and craft raf­fles, and tour the li­brary and its many lo­cal ar­ti­facts.

The silent-auc­tion items can be viewed at the Gen­try Pub­lic Li­brary on Monday and Thurs­day from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Tues­day, Wed­nes­day, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Satur­day from 9 a.m. to noon. Many of the items are in pub­lic view in the front win­dows of the li­brary.
