Highfill meetings postponed
HIGHFILL — Finding a workable meeting time has been an issue for the Highfill City Council in September, with at least two meetings canceled due to a lack of the necessary quorum to conduct business.
The regular meeting date and time of 6:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month was canceled and rescheduled when the mayor, Michelle Rieff, learned there would not be enough council members for a quorum.
Then, on Tuesday, Sept. 18, the meeting could not be held because it lacked a quorum. In addition to the mayor and the city’s treasurer and recorder, Stacie Williamson, the only council members present were David Williamson and Mark White.
A majority, or four, of Highfill’s six aldermen must be present to have a quorum.
A new date and time for September’s meeting were set at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25 (after press time). The meeting was scheduled to follow the 6:30 p.m. planning meeting.
