Gen­try’s State Po­lice driv­ers’ test­ing site clos­ing

The Arkansas State Po­lice will con­duct its last driver’s test at the Gen­try Pub­lic Li­brary on Fri­day, Oct. 12. The last writ­ten test will be at 11 a.m., and no road or skills tests will be given that day. Af­ter many years in Gen­try, this driv­ers’ test­ing lo­ca­tion is be­ing moved to Prairie Grove in the Courts Build­ing next to the Po­lice Depart­ment.

Legion cook­out, kids movie

Mem­bers of the John E. Tracy Amer­i­can Legion Post 25 will be hav­ing a cook­out at Old Town Park in Gravette be­gin­ning at 4 p.m. on Satur­day, Oct. 6. A kids movie will be shown af­ter the meal. All vet­er­ans and their fam­i­lies are in­vited to come and have a good time.

Li­brary book sale

The Gravette Pub­lic Li­brary will hold a book sale from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Satur­day, Oct. 6, at the old li­brary build­ing, 407 Char­lotte Street S.E. Books for all ages and in­ter­ests, CDs and au­dio­tapes will all be avail­able at bar­gain prices or you may fill a whole bag of books for only $5. All pro­ceeds will go for li­brary pro­grams.

Maysville craft sale

A craft sale will be held at the Maysville com­mu­nity build­ing from 8 a.m. un­til 6 p.m. Fri­day, Oct. 5, and 8 a.m. un­til 5 p.m. Satur­day, Oct. 6, fea­tur­ing fun fall crafts and more. Ven­dors will of­fer unique coun­try fair crafts, home decor, cof­fee and snacks, and es­sen­tial oils. There will be gifts ga­lore. Ven­dor space is avail­able for $10 a booth. Gover­nor’s Lin­col­nRea­gan Day din­ner

The an­nual Lin­col­nRea­gan Day din­ner, with Gover­nor Asa Hutchin­son, will be held this year at 7 p.m. Tues­day, Oct. 9, in the com­mons area at Gravette High School, 325 Lion Drive in Gravette. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Ticket cost is $50 for gen­eral ad­mis­sion and $40 for Gravette School Dis­trict tick­ets. At­tire is busi­ness ca­sual. Tick­ets may be ob­tained by go­ing to ben­ton­coun­ty­gop.org and pur­chas­ing through the Eventbrite app on the web­site or by calling 479656-3301.

PSAT test­ing avail­able

Ju­niors at Gravette High School will be given the op­por­tu­nity to take the PSAT on Wed­nes­day, Oct. 10, at 8 a.m. The PSAT measures ver­bal rea­son­ing, crit­i­cal read­ing, math prob­lem-solv­ing and writ­ing skills. It is prob­a­bly bet­ter known as the pre­lim­i­nary SAT and can be used as an in­di­ca­tor of how stu­dents will per­form on the SAT. The PSAT is the Na­tional Merit Schol­ar­ship qual­i­fier test for ju­niors. Sopho­mores will be al­lowed to also take the test for prac­tice. The fee for the test is $16. Seat­ing is lim­ited and will be filled on a first come, first served ba­sis. Stu­dents and par­ents can con­tact Melinda Grif­fin, Gravette High School coun­selor, at 479-787-4100.

Miss Oc­to­ber­fest Pageants set

The Miss Oc­to­ber­fest Pageants will be held Satur­day, Oct. 20, at the Gen­try High School Au­di­to­rium. They are spon­sored by the Gen­try Ju­nior High Cheer­lead­ers. The pageant is open to any and all par­tic­i­pants, with age di­vi­sions from 0 months to 18 years of age, in­clud­ing di­vi­sions for boys from 0 months to 6 years of age. It is not re­quired that par­tic­i­pants be res­i­dents of Gen­try. Ap­pli­ca­tions will be avail­able on­line at gen­try­p­i­oneers.com web­site and con­tain in­for­ma­tion re­gard­ing times and fees. Dead­line for ap­pli­ca­tions is Oct. 15. TOPS meet in Gen­try

Gen­try TOPS AR113, a non-profit group which pro­motes healthy weight loss, meets every Mon­day at the First Chris­tian Church Fel­low­ship Room, Se­cond and Giles, with a weigh in at 2:15 p.m. and the meet­ing at 3 p.m. There is a small fee to join but the first meet­ing is free.

First Bap­tist Food Pantry open

First Bap­tist Church, lo­cated at 213 E. Roller Av­enue in De­catur, holds a com­mu­nity food pantry on the se­cond and fourth Wed­nes­days of the month, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. For more in­for­ma­tion, con­tact the church at 479-7523514.

De­catur UMC Pantry open first, third Thurs­days

The De­catur United Methodist Church Food Pantry is open the first and third Thurs­day even­ing of each month from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and of­fers food boxes to De­catur res­i­dents. All that is needed is a valid iden­ti­fi­ca­tion, a util­ity bill or piece of mail show­ing an ad­dress in the 72722 ZIP code area. Also avail­able is a USDA com­mod­ity pro­gram to res­i­dents of De­catur and other com­mu­ni­ties with­out a com­mod­ity pro­gram. The com­mod­ity pro­gram re­quires in­come in­for­ma­tion. Singing ser­vices at Fall­ing Springs

Monthly singing ser­vices at Fall­ing Springs Church are held at 7 p.m. the first Fri­day of each month. The church is lo­cated north­west of Gen­try and west of De­catur on Fall­ing Springs Road.
