Wal­ton Fam­ily Foun­da­tion to pro­vide 3,000 trees to Ben­ton County ci­ti­zens

BEN­TONVILLE — The Wal­ton Fam­ily Foun­da­tion will pro­vide nearly 3,000 trees of 25 dif­fer­ent species for com­mu­nity projects and res­i­dent give­aways, ac­cord­ing to a news re­lease.

This year’s pro­gram in­cludes 12 grants to­tal­ing more than $2 mil­lion to mu­nic­i­pal­i­ties, the Ben­ton County Fair As­so­ci­a­tion, the Rogers His­tor­i­cal Mu­seum, the Friend­ship Com­mu­nity Care Chil­dren’s Cen­ter and other foun­da­tions, ac­cord­ing to the news re­lease. The money will al­low grantees to plant trees near trails, high­ways, parks, air­ports, el­e­men­tary schools, play­grounds, fair­grounds and other pub­lic spa­ces.

Cities will host give­aways this fall for res­i­dents to re­ceive trees in 3- to 5-gal­lon pots. Give­aways will take place Satur­day in Pea Ridge, Oct. 12 in Bella Vista, Oct. 11 and 12 in Cen­ter­ton, Oct. 13 in Gentry, Gravette and Siloam Springs, Oct. 20 in Rogers and Nov. 3 in Ben­tonville.
