The kid sis­ter to Up­town’s ex­plo­ration mu­seum Dis­cov­ery Place Science, this venue is geared to­ward lit­tle ones ages 8 and un­der. HIS­TORIC LATTA PLAN­TA­TION

His­toric Latta Plan­ta­tion is an early-19th-cen­tury cot­ton plan­ta­tion and liv­ing-his­tory farm lo­cated within Latta Plan­ta­tion Na­ture Pre­serve north of Char­lotte. Farm-an­i­mal pre­sen­ta­tions, crafts and guided tours are avail­able. Take a guided tour of the Latta home and roam the grounds for rare breeds of his­toric live­stock. Also check out the process of grow­ing short-sta­ple cot­ton and visit the hon­ey­bee ex­hibit. Ad­mis- sion: $7-8. This stately, Fed­eral-pe­riod house is open for tours; plus, the gar­dens and grounds are a trea­sure in their own right and are perfect for a leisurely walk. NASCAR HALL OF FAME
