You can spend a half-day on this tour, with the op­por­tu­nity to ride nine zi­plines through the trees on a net­work of ca­bles and sky­bridges. Not only will you climb tow­ers to ac­cess the zi­plines, but you’ll also en­joy hik­ing along na­ture trails to get to the dif­fer­ent posts. NASCAR team owner Richard Chil­dress not only is a star on the track but in Yad­kin Val­ley wine coun­try, too. These vine­yards pro­duce 12 Euro­pean-style va­ri­etals and 30 wines. Tours, which lead vis­i­tors through a fer­men­ta­tion room, a barrel room, a bot­tling room and a tast­ing room, are of­fered at noon and 3 pm M-F and on the hour from noon to 4 pm Sa-Su. This Rev­o­lu­tion­ary War liv­ing his­tory site con­tains more than 30 his­toric struc­tures that chron­i­cle the Carolina Pied­mont from the 1750s to about 1840. Other perks in­clude the re­stored house mu­se­ums, rare breeds of live­stock and the Walt Schrader Trails, an 8.5 mile net­work of back coun­try na­ture paths.
