Corny Dogs and Carnival Rides

A Texas tradition since 1886, the State Fair of Texas is much more than just a locally-loved event. Annual attractions include carnival rides and games at the Midway, parades, concerts, cultural performances, livestock shows, a petting zoo, football games and more.

Of course, one’s State Fair experience isn’t complete without three things: a‘Howdy’ from State Fair spokesperson Big Tex (and a picture to prove it!); a ride on the iconic Texas Star Ferris wheel; and a Fletcher’s corny dog, a Dallas original credited as the first purveyor of the classic carnival snack. (Pro tip: Purchase food, drink and ride tickets online or upon arrival to avoid lines or multiple trips to ticket vendors.)
