Welcome the dog days of summer with a trip to the Audubon Center for canoe tours along the Trinity River or a morning hike and picnic.
Just a hop, skip and a jump south of downtown Dallas, the 120-acre Trinity River Audubon Center has become the "gateway" to the largest urban hardwood forest in the country.
Take a stroll along the Audubon Center's five miles of walking trails (which include scenic skyline views of downtown), find your zen and explore three diverse ecosystems that are home to a multitude of wildlife throughout the Great Trinity Forest.
The center also hosts guided kayak and/or canoe adventure tours (no prior experience necessary!) each weekend in May, where outdoor enthusiasts can spend a few hours bird-watching, connecting with nature and imbibing the sights and sounds of the Trinity—from herons and egrets to beavers, butterflies, turtles and river otters.
