A clean-lined, poured-con­crete ed­i­fice in the Art Moderne style dates from the mid-1930s, built as part of FDR’s W orks Progress Ad­min­is­tra­tion. Of­fi­cially the Hes­lar Naval Ar­mory, it orig­i­nally housed the land­locked In­di­anapo­lis Naval Re­serves, un­der the com­mand of Cap­tain Ola F. Hes­lar.
