Standout Stand-Up

Where Las Vegas - - WHERE NOW -

Never before have stand-up stars have such success in Las Vegas. A frequent choice for celebrity roasts and a voice heard in more than 20 animated features, Brad Garrett won three Emmys and a SAG Award for his portrayal of Robert Barone on the long-running CBS series “Everybody Loves Raymond.” His comedy club at the MGM Grand brings in established comedy stars and the hottest new acts in the business, and is the only location in Vegas where you can see Garrett himself perform; this month, he takes the stage through Aug. 3. Another popular choice for celebrity roasts—and for edgy comedy on the Strip—is Vinnie Favorito at the Flamingo. This long-time Vegas performer and fan favorite takes his Bostonian heritage and uses it to rib his audience—all in good fun, of course. Be forewarned, though, Favorito is known for his no-holds-barred humor, and interacts with audiences with an unfiltered voice (they’re the best material, you know)—he’s far from PC, and offending people is the name of the game. Because of his on-the-fly approach, you get a chance to watch a true master at work: his quick wit plays off the crowd’s reaction, which offers a unique comedy experience every time.
