LAKE MEAD NATIONAL RECREATION AREA—
This 1.5-million-acre recreation area contains two lakes, and offers visitors a multitude of options, such as swimming, sunbathing, boating, fishing and sightseeing. Open 24 hours; beaches usually open from dawn to dusk. The vistor’s center is open from 8:30 am- 4:30 pm daily. www.nps.gov/lame.
