Ne­vada’s old­est and largest state park, ded­i­cated in 1935, which de­rives its name from the stark red sand­stone for­ma­tions. An­cient trees and early man are rep­re­sented through­out the park by ar­eas of pet­ri­fied wood and 3,000 year-old In­dian pet­ro­glyphs. There are two in­di­vid­ual camp­grounds with a com­bined to­tal of 73 units, and three group ar­eas, each of which can ac­com­mo­date 45 peo­ple; in ad­di­tion, there are four shaded pic­nic ar­eas with re­strooms.
