Dis­cover the gour­mand gems that are the talk of the town.

Among the sta­ble of glo­ri­ous restau­rants that have opened over the past year is db Brasserie, a con­tem­po­rary French steak­house brought to bril­liant life through the mind of Daniel Boulud. Here, we’re happy to find such items as crispy duck con­fit and the tempt­ing Brandt beef rib­eye (be­low). At We also love Ja­panese sen­sa­tion Kumi, a fu­sion of au­then­tic Ja­panese recipes, sushi and mod­ern Korean-Amer­i­can dishes. The restau­rant’s at­mos­phere is open and invit­ing; it feels like you’re step­ping down into a rel­a­tive’s liv­ing room, and in­deed, tra­di­tional Ja­panese dwellings were the in­spi­ra­tion. Sump­tu­ous dishes from chef Akira Back in­clude white­fish carpac­cio and the Crispy Rice (be­low).
