One of the big­gest events of the year, the Wran­gler Na­tional Fi­nals Rodeo, comes to town for 10 riproar­ing days of the best in rodeo ac­tion, Dec. 1-10. There are 120 con­tes­tants this year, in­clud­ing some of the big­gest names in the sport, com­pet­ing for a purse of $8.8 mil­lion. Events in­clude team rop­ing, bull rid­ing, sad­dle bronc rid­ing, steer wrestling, brand­ing, bar­rel rac­ing, bare­back rid­ing and much more. Com­pe­ti­tions take place at the Thomas & Mack Cen­ter on the cam­pus of the Univer­sity of Ne­vada, Las Ve­gas (UNLV), ev­ery evening be­gin­ning at 6:45 pm. It’s not just rodeo at­ten­dees who get in on the fun. It seems that all of Ve­gas goes cow­boy and cow­girl crazy with many ho­tels of­fer­ing ex­cit­ing events in tan­dem with the rodeo, in­clud­ing many shop­ping ex­trav­a­gan­zas, af­ter par­ties, con­certs and more.
