DEER­ING ES­TATE— From its ar­chae­o­log­i­cal fea­tures to its his­toric houses and na­ture pre­serves, the 444-acre Deer­ing Es­tate at Cut­ler is one of Miami’s note­wor­thy his­toric sites and parks. This vast es­tate is home to en­tire spa­ces ded­i­cated to phi­lan­thropist Charles Deer­ing’s col­lec­tions of art and de­sign. The Deer­ing Es­tate is equally filled with op­por­tu­ni­ties for the en­tire fam­ily to be a part of his­tory, with arche­o­log­i­cal preser­va­tion tours, classes and pro­grams. FLA­GLER MU­SEUM— Ac­cred­ited by the Amer­i­can Al­liance of Mu­se­ums and des­ig­nated a Na­tional His­toric Land­mark, the Fla­gler Mu­seum in­vites vis­i­tors to ex­pe­ri­ence the splen­dor of the Gilded Age while learn­ing more about Henry Fla­gler, his lux­u­ri­ous ho­tels, rev­o­lu­tion­ary rail­roads and this fas­ci­nat­ing pe­riod in Amer­i­can his­tory. The Fla­gler Mu­seum is open year-round, Tues­day through Satur­day, 10 am-5 pm and Sun­day, noon to 5pm. VIZCAYA MU­SEUM AND GARDENS— Built by Amer­i­can in­dus­tri­al­ist James Deer­ing, who win­tered on the prop­erty from 1916-1925, the Euro­pean-in­spired es­tate in­cludes a Main House filled with art and fur­nish­ings span­ning 2,000 years, plus 10 acres of for­mal gardens and stat­u­ary on Bis­cayne Bay.
