New Body of Work

Where New Orleans - - THE GUIDE -

Local artist Craig Tracy (p. 38) has established quite a reputation and following over the past decade as an internationally acclaimed bodypainter, a judge on the Game Show Network’s “Skin Wars” and owner of the world’s first gallery devoted to the craft. In celebration of the 11th anniversary of his eponymous Royal Street showroom, Tracy recently released “Al Fresco ~ French Quarter,” a 17-piece series that spotlights Vieux Carré architecture. A departure from his standard style, in which painted nudes blend seamlessly with the background, the model in “Al Fresco” starkly stands out from the colorful French Quarter façades behind her. “This is a project I’ve dreamed of for 10 years,” says Tracy. “This is my city, my neighborhood and my art form all wrapped into one series that communicates exactly who I am as an artist.”
