Set off on one of the steamboat Natchez‘ s (p. 46) daily river cruises, and your attention will first be drawn to its massive red paddlewheel. But what really fuels the last authentic steamboat still plying the mighty river is a trio of father/son teams for whom life on the Mississippi is very much a family affair. From the Natchez’s pilothouse to its boiler room, these three second-generation crews have spent a combined 174 years cruising the Crescent City waterfront. In celebration of Father’s Day and summer’s arrival, the steamboat hosts a Family Fun Day excursion June 17 at 2:30 pm with special entertainment and kidfriendly games. All aboard!
