The city’s new mu­nic­i­pal bi­cy­cle-shar­ing pro­gram, in part­ner­ship with Blue Cross/ Blue Shield of Louisiana (hence their color), of­fers an easy al­ter­na­tive to Uber with dozens of rental/drop-off sta­tions stretch­ing from the French Quar­ter to City Park and be­tween the By­wa­ter and Gar­den District neigh­bor­hoods. Rid­ers reg­is­ter on the Blue Bikes web­site or app, where they re­ceive ac­count and pin num­bers needed to un­lock the bikes, which rent for $8 an hour and can be dropped off at any rack sta­tion city­wide.
