The Up­per East Side man­sion of in­dus­tri­al­ist and art col­lec­tor Henry Clay Frick (1849–1919) houses one of the world’s most mag­nif­i­cent col­lec­tions of old-mas­ter paint­ings, fur­nish­ings and dec­o­ra­tive arts. Pic­tured is the Liv­ing Hall, fea­tur­ing El Greco’s “St. Jerome” above the fire­place, Hans Hol­bein’s por­traits of Sir Thomas More and Thomas Cromwell to its left and right, French 18th- cen­tury fur­ni­ture, Chi­nese porce­lains and Ital­ian Re­nais­sance bronzes.
