Now in its eighth year, “Mangoes at the Moana” will be held July 16 at the Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa. “It’s a chef- driven event,” says Ryan Loo, the resort’s food and beverage director. “Our hotel guests get a taste of Hawai‘i.” The county fair-like atmosphere in the Banyan Courtyard will feature a Farmer’s Market where attendees can get a taste of a variety of mangoes. In the style of Bobby Flay, top island chefs will put their best mango recipe forward during the Mango Throwdown. Admission is free and guests are welcome to taste each chef’s creation for $6 per plate. For information about “Mangoes at the Moana,” call the Moana Surfrider at 808.922.3111 and ask for the concierge desk.
