Start the day at Thornton Park, a historic little pocket off downtown boasting brick streets, moss- draped oaks, 1920s bungalows and a beautiful fountain with a quaint collection of a cafés and shops. Benjamin French Bakery serves delicious croissants and coffee. Dine in or have a picnic in nearby Lake Eola park. A shaded playground is fun for the kids, along with swan boats on the lakefront you can rent by the half-hour. Take time to admire the sculptures around the park from See Art Orlando. The pieces designed by eight international artists range from a kinetic sculpture that dances in the breeze to a whimsical statue with two, clown-like feet.
