A Southerner born and raised, I’ve had more than my share of hot summers. But the hottest I’ve ever been in my life was at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It was 3 pm in August on the black-asphalt parking lot, my kids were whining for water, and I had no idea where I parked my car. But don’t worry—I will not let this happen to you. After three sizzling hot summers at Orlando’s theme parks with the kids in tow, I’ve learned a lesson or two. Here are some of my top tips for rising above Orlando’s heat and humidity and making sure everyone is cool, comfortable and having the time of their lives.
