1 BLUE CROSS BROAD STREET RUN > MAY 7 A 10-mile, longstanding tradition in the City of Brotherly Love during which cheerleaders and drill teams entertain spectators while athletes sweat the course all the way to the finish line. Tots will enjoy the Kids Fun Zone complete with face painting, petting zoo and ballon artists and held at the Navy Yard.
2 PHILADELPHIA CHINESE LANTERN FESTIVAL > MAY 9JUNE 11 This Asian-inspired festival returns to Franklin Square for its sophomore effort. Expect a 200-foot Chinese dragon, silk sculptures, dances and acrobatics, Asian cooking and the Dragon Beer Garden, and 29 illuminated, hand- crafted lanterns, of course. 3 NEW HOPE PRIDE PARADE > MAY 20 The hallmark event during the celebration that is New Hope’s annual Pride Festival (May 14-21) actually begins across the state line in Lambertville, N. J., before crossing the Delaware River in a show of bands, floats and performance ensembles. This tribute to diversity and inclusion creates a sense of community among with a fun, free-spirited enthusiasm.
