Our beloved cherry blossoms have put on their show and exited stage left, but this month brings brilliant azaleas, delicate dogwoods and colorful tulips. All these and many more botanical beauties thrive at Hillwood, the former estate of cereal heiress and elegant green thumb Marjorie
Merriweather Post. On the 13-acre grounds, lush outdoor “living rooms” like the fragrant rose garden and the formal French Parterre transport visitors to a rarefied bygone era. After strolls here, I inevitably come away relaxed and rejuvenated. Yes, D.C. is full of enticing diversions, but do take some time to smell the roses!
